The season finale (funny saying that since regular TV is just starting up thier new stuff now.) with a cliff hanger called, “Battlestar Galactica – ??Pegasus? ” seems to be pretty good and just as good as the original storyline from the 1978 where Apollo and Starbuck find another Battlestar in space as part of their routine patrols. The Battlestar is the Pegasus and is commanded by one of humanity’s most legendary war heros from the past Commander Cain. Cain quickly assesses the strengths of the Galactica and the Colonial fleet. He determines that with two Battlestars he can achieve its first clean victory against the Cylons since they lost the war. Commander Adama of the Galactica thinks that the fleet needs to be protected at all costs. Cain on the other hand thinks its time to attack the Cylon home world of Gamoray.
The most interesting aspect of the new BGS episode, beyond the geek-thrill of seeing two battlestars side by side, one new, the other old, is the respective crews?? attitude towards the Cylons. Cain clearly sees them as the enemy and as sub-human, but the Galactica crew, despite themselves, have slowly come to a different take on their enemy. And when Helo and Tyrol actually side with a Cylon here against their fellow humans, the line is clearly drawn between the two Colonial ships.
